The Latchkey Center was established in 2004 with the objective to provide child care services for children grades 1-5. In providing this care it was essential to do so with an interpersonal nurturing feel of a day-care, but with the age appropriate structure of an after school program. The Latchkey Center is not a program which periodically utilizes another organization’s facility. Nor is The Latchkey Center a day-care with a dedicated room for school age children. The Latchkey Center is a center which was specifically constructed with the sole intent to provide innovative services for school age children while keeping them safe in a home-like environment.
